About Grievance Redressal Cell

  • Chandigarh University shall follow an open door policy for handling all types of grievances in the Institution.
  • All employees are encouraged to use direct one to one communication either by way of internet facility, through telephone or direct talks in order to resolve all issues immediately.
  • Besides this, there are various interactions with the respective Director/Principal, and Management wherein open discussion can be held.
  • However, if some issues remain unresolved, the same shall be addressed through the Grievance Redressal Procedure as follows:

Step I:

  • An employee shall send his grievance in writing to his Head of Department or one level higher authority within 10 working days of the date on which facts giving rise to the grievance became known to the employee.
  • The concerned authority may provide an opportunity on the request of an employee to be heard in person.
  • The concerned authority will give his decision within 7 working days of the receipt of the grievance and not from the date of personal hearing to an employee.
  • Where a decision has been communicated to the employee within the prescribed time and the employee is not satisfied with the decision or in the event no decision has been communicated within the time limit, the employee may take his grievance at Step – II within 7 working days of the expiry of the time limit.

Step II:

  • The Head of the Grievance Committee, on receipt of grievance either from the employee or a Departmental Head will take immediate action to call for a meeting of the Grievance Committee comprising of:
  • The Director/Principal of the concerned Institute- Chair- person
  • Co-opted member/ members who in the eyes of the Dean Academic Affairs is/are not related to the nature of the grievance, are required to be present in committee.
  • The Grievance Committee may give an opportunity to the employee to be heard in person and may permit him to take assistance of a friend, if he so desires, under his own arrangement. ‘Friend’ should be working in the same premises. No adjournment will be granted due to non-availability of a friend.
  • The decision of the Grievance Committee shall be communicated to the employee within 10 working days of the receipt of the grievance and not from the date of personal hearing, so granted.

Step III:

  • If the employee is not satisfied with decision of the Grievance Committee or the committee does not communicate to the employee within 10 working days, the employee may appeal to the Vice-Chancellor, who will convey his decision within 2 working days, which would be final and binding.
  • No appeal shall lie against the decision of the Vice-Chancellor.
  • For any feedback/suggestions /issues, employees can write to Dean Academic Affairs, Vice-Chancellor or the Chancellor through e-mail or any other medium.
