Site visit to Sanghol Buddhist Archaeological Museum

On 29th September 2023 students from BSc Travel and Tourism Management were taken to Sanghol Buddhist Archaeological Museum under Swach Bharat Abyan, where students cleaned the museum premises. Additionally, students enjoyed observing the captivating art, artifacts, and crafts associated with Punjab’s traditions and culture.

Inaugural Event for Yuva Tourism Club

As the University Institute of Tourism and Hospitality Management had received an invitation from the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India to form the Yuva Tourism Club, therefore on 25th August 2023, the Paparazzi Club and the UITHM organized an inaugural session of a new official club the ‘Yuva Tourism Club’, in the tourism department with the guest speaker Ms. Disha Yadav.

PATA Youth Symposium

Students from the Department of Tourism participated in the PATA Youth Symposium which is a flagship event organized annually by the Pacific Asia Travel Association, a globally recognized authority in the travel and tourism sector. The PATA Youth Symposium at PATA Travel Mart is a vital platform for empowering the future leaders of the travel and tourism industry. Its key learning objectives encompass industry insights, sustainability, networking, skill development, cultural exchange, and innovation, all of which contribute to the growth and evolution of the industry.

Adventure and Leadership Development Camp

The Department of Tourism, UITHM provided a Value-Added Course to students in collaboration with Himalayan Vagabond Adventures to enhance their academic experience and to develop leadership competence essential for future tourism professionals. The highlight of the course was the trip to Kullu Manali, where students visited the Himalayas and got the opportunity to improve their leadership skills by working on real-time scenarios.

Expert talk by Reliance

The Department of Tourism hosted a lecture for BSc TTM and MBA-THM students. Mr. Puneet Narula, Mr. Sanyam Saigal, Mr. Nakul Merchant, Mr. Joseph Raj, Reliance's director of business operations, Leed L&D's senior manager, and Mr. Joseph Raj, the sous chef, were the featured guests for this session. They discussed their work and professional endeavours with students in order to inspire them to pursue careers in the future, as well as how to relate current studies to past work.

World Tourism Day

The Department of Tourism, UITHM, Chandigarh University, organized and celebrated "SANGATHAN-TOURISM CONFLUENCE," a two-day interdepartmental event in lieu of World Tourism Day 2022. On the occasion, more than 10 competitions were conducted, and more than 100 students from different departments enthusiastically participated in the event.

IFDP Expert talk

The Department of Tourism convened an IFDP expert session with Dr. Christina, a renowned expert from an international university, to examine the function of intercultural communication within a team environment. The session concluded with a team-based activity performed by all faculty members. Each team received a unique query regarding the function of communication within the team environment. The entire faculty accomplished the assignment and discussed their points.

IFDP Expert Talk

The Department of Tourism organized an IFDP expert session with Dr. Natasa Slak Valek, a renowned international university expert, to promote the concept of a sustainable and smart city. Communication about the planned city of Chandigarh was the topic of the session. Also discussed was the function of planned cities in the tourism industry. The expert discussed with the audience various aspects of attracting tourism to Chandigarh City, which will help the city attract more domestic and international tourists. During the session, planned city measurements and a sense of community were also discussed.

Bagel Club of UITHM organized Diwali Carnival week wherein students got a chance to bake and sold bakery products. The sole purpose of the whole activity was to give hands-on exposure to the students for bulk production of bakery products, cost controlling with sales of the final products.
