Bachelor of Commerce (Hons.) Program Educational Objectives (PEOs)

PEO-1: Graduate will have career in government and corporate organisations dealing with Accounting, Taxation, Banking, Finance, Business or other related fields. They will have successful engagement in academic/entrepreneurial ventures and/or advancement of knowledge through progression towards higher degrees;

PEO-2: Will be known for their ethical and moral conduct in professional and personal life as a member of diverse teams and expected to take better decisions even in complex situations;

PEO-3: Will be recognized as professionals with commitment towards human dignity, humility and empathy while working in any organization and also in the society;

PEO-4: Will have reputation as a team-player with leadership qualities in their respective workplaces and also have a positive attitude while dealing with co-members of the team and taking important decisions;

PEO-5: Will be respected for skills in research-based problem-solving and providing innovative solutions; and responsible professional, serving to the society with strong sense of ‘giving back’ to the society;

Bachelor of Commerce (Hons.) Program Outcomes (POs)
Upon completion of the B.Com. (Hons.) program of Chandigarh University, the graduates will be able to:

PO 1: Demonstrate understanding of the basic concepts and theoretical knowledge used in the different Commerce and business related areas like Accounting, Taxation, Auditing, Banking, Marketing, Finance, E-Commerce etc.

PO 2: Apply the different tools and techniques in solving the problems related to their field of study in day to day situations during their career;

PO 3: Critically analyze the different profession related scenarios and situations with clear understanding of the factors contributing to the same;

PO 4: Plan and develop the start-ups and entrepreneurial ventures independently through skills developed during the tenure of degree.

PO 5: Demonstrate leadership qualities required to lead the diverse teams and small groups to achieve the common goals of the organization;

PO 6: Effectively communicate through different modes and forms of communication while working as a member of team in the organization at different levels;

PO 7: Effectively work with the different groups and teams diversified in terms of gender, age, ethnicity, cultural background, academic background and nationalities;

PO 8: Prove proficiency with the ability to qualify competitive professional examinations at national and international level;

PO 9: Pursue higher education and advance research in the field of commerce, business and finance with the clear understanding of basic concepts required for the same;

PO 10: Display practical skills, required to work as tax consultant, audit assistant and other financial supporting services and will be able to become a successful professional in these fields.

Bachelor of Commerce (Hons.) Program Specific Outcomes (PSOs)
B.Com (Hons.)-E-Commerce

Upon completion of B.Com(Hons.) program with E-Commerce specialization, graduate will be able to:

PSO-1: Understand the concepts of commerce and computer application operations

PSO-2: Apply domain knowledge for computer programming and implementing the same in E-Commerce sector.

PSO-3: Demonstrate knowledge in setting up a computerized set of accounting books

PSO-4: Design the accounting system and processes for e-commerce and e-business.

B.Com (Hons.)- Auditing & Taxation

Upon completion of B.Com(Hons.) program with Auditing and Taxation specialization, graduate will be able to:

PSO-1: Demonstrate progressive learning of various tax issues and tax forms related to individuals

PSO-2: Gain thorough systematic and subject skills within various disciplines of commerce, business, accounting, economics, finance, auditing and marketing

PSO-3: Appraise the multi-dimensional business situations and assess the financial health of companies.

PSO-4: Apply the knowledge of the business policies, auditing, finance and other related areas both at the macro and micro level

B.Com (Hons.)- Advanced Cost and management Accounting

Upon completion of B.Com.(Hons.) program with Advanced Cost and Management Accounting specialization, graduate will be able to:

PSO-1: Learn relevant managerial accounting skills with emphasis on application of both quantitative and qualitative knowledge to their future careers.

PSO-2: Acquire several opportunities to engage with the accounting professionals and learn from their experiences.

PSO-3: Exhibit relevant financial accounting career skills and application of both quantitative and qualitative knowledge to their future careers in business.

PSO-4: Cater to the manpower needs of companies in Accounting, Financial analysis and Management.

B.Com (Hons.)- Marketing

Upon completion of B.Com(Hons.) program with Marketing specialization, graduate will be able to:

PSO-1: Understand the concept of marketing and different market contexts:

PSO-2: Segment the market based on analysis of the applicable factors and analysis of consumer behavior:

PSO-3: Design marketing mix for the different types of products/ services in the different market place contexts: and

Master of Commerce (Hons.) Program Educational Objectives (PEOs)
Graduates of M.Com (Hons.) Program of Chandigarh University are expected to accomplish the following PEOs within a few years from completion of their degrees:

PEO-1: Will become successful entrepreneurs and finance professionals in the field of Banking, Insurance, Manufacturing, Transport, Telecom, Service, Hospitality, IT and to pursue career in teaching and for advanced studies.

PEO-2: Be recognized for quantitative, qualitative, cognitive and analytical skills to identify, analyze, design and create business opportunities in a global dynamic environment.

PEO-3: Known for professional ethics, humility and societal needs with their holistic development when working in diversified teams.Their contribution will be significant through the necessary professional, competence and ethical attitude imbibe in them while undergoing the program.

PEO-4: Will have contributed to the creation, transmission and application of knowledge in the field of commerce and other related fields as well adapted to a rapidly changing environment through life long learning.

PEO-5: Be recognized for their capacity to think strategically and to lead, motivate and managemulti disciplinary teams thereby enhancing managerial effectiveness under all circumstances.

Master of Commerce (Hons.) Program Outcomes (POs)
Upon successful completion of Master of Commerce program of Chandigarh University, the graduates will be able to:

PO 1: Acquire in-depth knowledge of Commerce discipline, including wider and global perspectives, with an ability to discriminate, evaluate, analyze and synthesize existing and new knowledge, and integration of the same for enhancement of knowledge. (Academic result & International / global reach)

PO 2: Analyze complex business problems critically, apply independent judgment for synthesizing information to make intellectual and/or creative advances for conducting research in a wider theoretical, practical and policy context. (Research and Innovation)

PO 3: Think laterally and originally, conceptualize and solve Business problems, evaluate a wide range of potential solutions for those problems and arrive at feasible, optimal solutions after considering public health and safety, cultural, societal and environmental factors in the core areas of expertise at the national and international levels. PO 4: Extract information pertinent to unfamiliar industry issues through literature survey and experiments, apply appropriate research methodologies, techniques and tools, design, conduct survey, analyze and interpret data, demonstrate higher order skill and view things in a broader perspective, submit a report about the study in commerce. PO 5: Demonstrate ability to understand commerce in multifunctional areas like Banking and Finance, Auditing and taxation, Marketing & Entrepreneurship. Also they will be able to demonstrate ability to understand and derive meaningful inferences about organizational performance. (Functional Specialization)

PO 6: Display knowledge and understanding of group dynamics, recognise opportunities and contribute positively to collaborative-multidisciplinary management research, demonstrate a capacity for self-management and teamwork, decision-making based on open-mindedness, objectivity and rational analysis in order to achieve common goals and further the learning of themselves as well as others. PO 7: Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of commerce principles and apply the same to one’s own work, as a member and leader in a team, manage projects in the work environment efficiently in respective disciplines and multidisciplinary environments after considering the economical and financial factors. PO 8: Communicate with society at large, regarding complex managerial activities confidently and effectively, such as, being able to comprehend and write effective reports and design

PO 9: Documentation by adhering to appropriate standards, make effective presentations, and give and receive clear instructions. Also they will demonstrate an ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally (Speaking / Writing skills).

Master of Commerce (Hons.) Program Specific Outcomes (PSO)
M.Com-Banking and Finance

Upon completion of M.Com (Hons.) program graduates will be able to:

PSO-1: Describe the basic concepts and theories that explain the function and evolution of banking and finance.

PSO-2: Examine the operations of modern banking and financial institutions as influenced by different market structures, regulatory framework and level of international openness.

PSO-3: Criticallyevaluate the functions and operations of modern central banks and international financial institutions.

PSO-4: Analyze the role of the Bank of International Settlements and the functioning of international banking and financial markets and the interrelationships between theories, policy and impact of external factors on the banking and financial sector.

M.Com- Auditing and Taxation

Upon completion of M.Com (Hons.) program graduates will be able to:

PSO-1: Understand the financial report audit process, beginning with accepting clients, followed by understanding the client, evaluating business risk and assessing inherent risk, performing tests of controls to assess control risk and substantive tests to reduce detection risk, considering subsequent events and evaluating evidence gathered, ending in the formation of audit opinion and communication of the results to the client.

PSO-2: Apply critical thinking and problem-solving skills related to taxation of individuals, flowthrough entities, and corporations. In addition, students will recognize potential opportunities for tax savings and tax planning.

PSO-3: Convert complex and technical tax terminology into language that translates to nontechnical audiences. This outcome allows students to demonstrate strong interpersonal communication skills that build relationships with clients over time, and be able to prepare work products with careful attention to word choice, tone, and accuracy.

PSO-4: Explain key differences in taxing policies related to expatriates and the countries they live and work in - allowing them to reflect on cultural and ethnic differences in approaches to business and taxation policies.

M.Com- Marketing

Upon completion of M.Com (Hons.) program graduates will be able to:

PSO-1: Analyze the interaction of marketing and environmental forces through an understanding of marketing decisions and practices with social, technological, economic, and political forces.

PSO-2: Apply the knowledge, concepts, tools necessary to understand challenges and issues of marketing in a growing international and global context.

PSO-3: Appreciate the importance of cultural adaptation of international business and marketing through appraisal and critical analysis of the social, technological, political, legal and economic forces that affect business performance

PSO-4: Appreciate the role of marketing as a fundamental organizational policy process.

M.Com –Innovation and Entrepreneurship

Upon completion of M.Com (Hons.) program graduates will be able to:

PSO-1: Sell themselves and their ideas through master oral and visual presentation skills and establish a foundation of confidence in the skills necessary to cause others to act.

PSO-2: Identify problems worth solving. They will advance their skills in customer development, customer validation, competitive analysis, and iteration while utilizing design thinking and process tools to evaluate in real-world problems and projects.

PSO-3: Mobilize people and resources. Students identify and secure customers, stakeholders, and team members through networks, primary customer research, and competitive and industry analyses in order to prioritize and pursue an initial target market in real-world projects.

PSO-4: Create value by making presentations and business plans that articulate and apply financial, operational, organizational, market, and sales knowledge to identify paths to value creation.
