About the Advanced Credit Program

Chandigarh University’s Passion to Profession through Advanced Credit Program offers a unique pathway for bright and inquisitive young minds to develop their career by enjoying their passion. This specialized certification program is offered to UG and PG students seeking admission to Chandigarh University. Besides pursuing their passion, the students will earn University credits while developing the primordial knowledge and skills for the program to which they are interested in taking admission. This program comprises three distinct levels, each tailored to provide students with a progressive and comprehensive learning experience.

Significance of Earning Academic Credits

Obtaining credits in specific courses implies that a student has exhibited proficiency in those subjects. Consequently, they might be exempted from retaking those courses or have the opportunity to progress to more advanced levels directly. This minimizes the required number of courses, enabling them to concentrate on other subjects or explore additional courses. Advanced earned credits streamline a student's academic path, potentially reducing the duration needed to finish their degree or program. It lessens the student's time and energy commitments, allowing them to allocate those resources to other subjects and dedicate more time to prepare for job placements.

The Level 2 of Passion to Profession through Advanced Credit Program is focussed on inculcating global values in the aspirants.

The course will improve aspirant’s morale. The aspirants will be able to bring in right conduct in their behaviour. The said values and ethics training program will aim at improving the professionalism and the effectiveness of individuals.

The aspirant will be engaged in series of lessons based on value inculcation which will earn them a values certificate.

The career of an architect is dynamic and ever-changing. India has off late witnessed a boom in the architecture industry. The job of an architect is not just restricted to design the home and office buildings, but also participating in various fields of designing sites of exhibitions, sports events, creating unique lighting systems and designing effects, etc.

This Course offers a unique insight into the mind and work of an Architect, starting with the basics of the profession and culminating with the production of a scaled site model. The course should act as ideal preparation for those interested in undertaking an undergraduate degree in Architecture, although its flexible, intriguing and enjoyable content makes it accessible for all those looking to increase their knowledge in the field.

Course Objectives

To provide unique insight and work of an Architect into the mind of the student

Course Outcomes

The student will develop the creative skills through the mindset of an Architect

The student will be able to evolve the conceptual framework of a Design Process.

The student will analyze the stages in a design process

By the end of the course the students will gain a fundamental knowledge of architecture and its principles.

Course Contents

Welcome to the Mind of an Architect

In first phase this course will discuss about the architect’s role and responsibilities.

 

The student will be going to witness a small-scale project or the work of an Architect. (What the architect does with a certain vision about how things might be better). The students will be given an introduction to that mindset and to the way of working. The study will demonstrate that how architecture really engages different skills.

 

In this module there will be three things. 1. The course will dispel some of the myths about what a student needs in order to become an architect. 2. Professional Ethics: what an architect does and doesn't do. 3. Then student will undergo a short design exercise that begins to stretch the muscles to get on the design process. (Warm – Up Activity: Relevant to Architecture)

Design Analysis & Creating Spaces

In this module there will be a discussion of the Architectural work in a wider context. In this there will be an exploration of the relationship the architect has with the environment (both its material environment and its social environment). So, these kinds of questions, the ability to think about an object/project in its broader context and the development. By the end of the module, there will be an activity of thinking about the building's broader context. (The social and material context in which a project exists.)

In this module, more into the technical side of architecture will be developed.Essential principles will be explored such as: composition, hierarchy, balance, and space. Learningto interact with the environment; this is where a student will learn how to put the ideas into practice. Student will learn what is necessary in order to ensure howthe structure connects with people living near it and interacting with it on a daily basis. Also, the course will explore how architects use the natural and physical environment to stimulate their creative process - taking a look at incredible examples from renowned architects. Finally, the student will receive tips on how to succeed in this week's assignment.

Design Process

In this module, the course will focus on how to develop the story behind the design. All great architects have great stories and students will be given an insight to some of those in this week. The course will also introduce use of latest materials in the market for various architectural solutions and how a student can develop his own design which will enable him to build the necessary connection to his design by introducing innovative building materials.

 

Also, the course will educate the student the role of Building Materials from latest market trends for ceilings, walls, floors and other components of buildings based on various architectural solutions from industry (Gyproc-Saint Gobain). Modern tools used by companies to fit the right materials at right place in the building Design.
