The event may inspire people to think imaginatively about minimizing trash and reusing resources by holding a competition that involves turning unwanted clothing into functional bags.

University Institute of Design (UID)

University Institute of Design (UID), an integrated part of Chandigarh University, aims at fulfilling the need for a Top-Class Design institution providing the very best of design skills and industry relevant management, technology & interpersonal skills. It shall be seen as a focused approach to develop the human capital in latest areas of design & technology.

The undergraduate program is designed for students looking to enter the fashion world and provides a complete education allowing participants to acquire the necessary knowledge and skills to pursue a career in their chosen field.

The four-year B.Design (Fashion) program is offered with an exit option after 3 years and is designed to inculcate practical skills and competencies in students with the finest hands-on experience in designing and developing innovative fashion garments and accessories.

Program Outcomes

  • Using rugs as a material for bags can be a sustainable and Eco-Friendly option as it utilizes materials that would otherwise end up in landfills.
  • By re purposing old or discarded rugs, it can reduce waste and promote a circular economy. Rugs can come in a wide variety of colours and patterns, which can make for unique and stylish bags.

Assistant Professor Bharti Kapoor

Assistant Professor Bharti Kapoor

Bharti Kapoor is an Assistant Professor at Chandigarh University, Gharuan Mohali, with 6+ years of experience, pursuing PhD. A Guru Nanak Dev University Topper completed MSc. In Fashion Designing & Merchandising. Currently pursuing PhD in Fashion from Banasthali Vidyapeeth, Rajasthan. She was born in Amritsar, Punjab, India. She has completed her B.A. Post Graduation Diploma from Guru Nanak Dev University. She is a GNDU topper in Post Graduation Diploma and scored second position in MSc. She has been recognized by the University and rewarded with cash prizes in Academics. Done Freelancing for several years in association with an interior designer, also worked as a MD in a Yoga Centre.


Assistant Professor Shadab Khan

Assistant Professor Shadab Khan

Shadab Khan is an Assistant Professor at Chandigarh University; he has done a Master's at Pearl Academy of Fashion Delhi (2010) and completed the value-added course on Garments Manufacturing. He was born in U.P, Ghaziabad, India. 15 Years' Experience in Fashion Industry in Industrial and Academic (5 Years in Dubai as a Senior Designer)
Three years as an Accessories Designer, Bags, Belts, and other products.
