An expert talk on “Career as an Entrepreneur after Law” was given by Mr. Manuj Bhardwaj (Attorney-at-law) and Mr. Mukesh Vashisht (Advocate). The expert talk focused on choosing Entrepreneurship as a career after completion of legal studies as well as discussed various opportunities available for Law students in the corporate world.

Expert Talk on Land Laws of Punjab

An expert talk on the Land Laws of Punjab was delivered by a renowned legal luminary -Justice Paramjeet Singh Dhaliwal. The session focused on the major aspects of Land Laws as how (i) documentation regarding the land is made, (ii) what documents are needed, (iii) the various units of measurement, (iv) the hierarchy of the legal functionaries involved right from Patwari to the judicial members, and (v) how land is plotted on the maps and the legality involved.

Expert Talk on Enforcement Mechanism

An expert talk was organized by the department on the very important topic of legal education i.e. Enforcement Mechanism under Consumer Protection Act, 1986 by the expert - Ms. Rachna Arora, (Judicial Lady Member of District Consumer Dispute Redressal Forum). It was an interactive session that enlightened the students about the concept of consumer, who can file a complaint, how can a complaint be filed, composition of district forum, the jurisdiction of the courts, the format of complaint and various other important topics.

Expert Talk on Analysis of Sabrimala Judgment

Highly decorated judicial officer of India- Justice Iqbal Ahmad Ansari gave an expert talk on Unconstitutionality of Triple Talaq and Opening up of the Sabrimala Temple for women. Giving insight of the judgment, Justice Iqbal Ahmad Ansari enlightened the students on (i) the evolution of law, (ii) common law, (iii) how notions of morality and righteousness differ from society to society, and (iv) the decisions given in the mentioned judgments.

Expert Talk on Constitutional Law of India

University Institute of Legal Studies organized an expert talk on ‘Constitutional Law of India’ in which Hon'ble Justice K. G. Balakrishnan (Former Chief Justice of India), Dr. B. C. Gupta (IAS - Retd - Former Food Secretary of India) and Shri Gaagan Pradeep Singh Pal (Advocate former senior (p) Counsel -Govt. of Punjab, Supreme Court of India) interacted with our budding law professionals and cleared their queries as well.

Industrial Visit to AVON Cycles, Ludhiana

Around 47students of B.com+LLB visited Avon Cycles Pvt. Ltd, Ludhiana. The purpose of the visit was to provide practical exposure to the students about the functioning procedure of the organization. The students were briefed about manufacturing plant and legal environment affecting the current scenario.

Organizing Minority Right Campaign

Minority Right Campaign was organized in Mehtot Village, District Mohali, Punjab by University Institute of Legal Studies students. The campaign was organized to make the people aware of their rights, given under Article 29 and Article 30 of the Indian Constitution. The students enlightened the villagers about Article 29 and 30 which is a special right conferred on the religious and linguistic minorities because of their numerical handicap in order to instill in them a sense of confidence.

Consumer Awareness Programme was organized in the Shakrulapur Village, District Mohali, Punjab to educate the people about their Consumer Rights with regard to; right to information, right to choose, right to the safety of the products and services.

Elimination of Violence against Women

UILS students organized Legal Awareness Campaign on Elimination of Violence against Women in Khalsa Senior Secondary School, Kharar. The campaign was organized to enlighten the students about different women protection laws such as Dowry Prohibition Act, Domestic Violence Act, Sexual Harassment at Workplace Act, etc, formulated to protect against violence.
