Hands-on Workshop on Sophisticated Research Equipment (HWSRE-2021)
In materials research and testing, the relationship between the structure and properties of materials is studied, often at the atomic or molecular level. Biomaterials, ceramics, polymers, nanomaterials, thin films, and devices are areas of interest in this field. The knowledge gained is used to assess quality, reliability, and safety, and is often used to produce new materials with specific desired properties. Characterization, when used in materials science, refers to the broad and general process by which a material's structure and properties are probed and measured. It is a fundamental process in the field of materials science, without which no scientific understanding of engineering materials could be ascertained. This Workshop aims to provide proper training to the PG and PhD researcher scholars and faculty members regarding use and interpretation while using High end research equipment. An attempt has been made by organizers to educate the researchers regarding importance of advanced research equipment. The online workshop was organized where scientists and researchers from leading academic institutions and research centres shared methodology and principle of using research equipment. The knowledge of operating the FTIR, SEM, EDS, DSC, surface tester and tensile strength testing was delivered using case studies. The case studies related to 3d printing in biomedical field were presented by experts. Also, the role of 3d printing in development of advanced materials was discussed by experts during this seven-day workshop. The participants reported that they gathered immense knowledge and experience from this workshop and such events should be organized more frequently.
