SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS

Micro Biotechnology Lab

lab is working on three different aspects:-

1.Exploration of plant beneficial microbes such as Trichoderma and Streptomyces as biocontrol and biofertilizer.

Figure 1: Growth inhibition of fungal pathogens by Trichoderma against- Sclerotinia sp. (a); Fusarium oxysporum (b); Dual interaction of Trichoderma against Sclerotinia (C); Dual interaction of Trichoderma against Fusarium

Figure 2: Evaluation of Trichoderma harzianum (T4R2). on growth promotion of tomato plants compared to control (T3R2).

2.Genome mining and exploration of industrially relevant enzymes from microorganisms

Figure 3: Laccase activity, Genomic annotation and Biochemical organisation of 2D laccase from Streptomyces. The three trinuclear copper (TNC) in a homotrimeric laccase is located between domain 1 and domain 2 of adjacent units, contribute to the stability of the protein. Published in Molecular Biotechnology.

3. Characterization of bioactive compounds, their biological activities from Anethum graveolens

Figure 4: Antifungal activities of volatiles compounds released from Anethum graveolens seeds against Sclerotinia sclerotiorum responsible for white mold, Alternaria solani responsible for early blight and Fusarium oxysporum responsible for vascular wilt in plants
