The Centre of Excellence - Indian Knowledge Systems, inaugurated by COA President

The Centre of Excellence - Indian Knowledge Systems, inaugurated by the Council of Architecture President Ar Habib Khan, promotes and preserves traditional Indian architecture while fostering innovation. It integrates principles of sustainability and social responsibility, and offers state-of-the-art facilities, workshops, and seminars. The Centre prepares students to create a sustainable and equitable built environment, making a significant contribution to the field of architecture and design in India and beyond.

First Prize in Arttd'inox 3D Challenge design competition

UIA students have won the first prize in the national-level Arttd'inox 3D Challenge design competition. This prestigious competition was conceptualized by JSL Lifestyle Ltd.Our students have always demonstrated a keen interest in such competitions, and their participation in the Arttd'inox 3D Challenge design competition is a testament to their enthusiasm and commitment to the field of architecture.

Architectural design studio is a vital part of an architectural program where students develop their design skills by submitting their work for evaluation by a panel of experts. The studio prepares students for the challenges of the architectural field, encouraging innovation and excellence. This process helps students refine their designs, think critically, and communicate effectively.

International Faculty Development Program

International faculty development program was organized by UIA for the duration of 5 days. It was a university event in which faculties from all across the globe participated and gave their valuable inputs to enhance the teaching learning, methodology and as well as to carry out research in different fields. Scholars talked about a range of topics which included comparative law, syllabus formulation, etc. the speaker had profound knowledge about their fields and contributed constructively.

Prof. (Dr.) Judith T Ojo-Aromokudu from University of KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa visited Chandigarh University from 15th July, 2019 to 24th July, 2019 under faculty exchange program. She talked about how waste materials in urban centres are defining the new vernacular of urban area. The lecture was very useful for the student as it helped them to understand urban development with a different perspective.

The lecture was organized by the UIA to make students aware of the Urbanization Happening in India and what are the consequences of the present trend of urbanization on Indian biodiversity and as in whole on climate change.

There are serious issues related to urbanization like water crisis, air pollution and even behavioural change. He also discussed about different approaches to mitigate these issues.

Dr. Giusseppe Ridolfi talked about the state of the art technology around designing build masses. He talked about modern software such as Revit, Rhino, Grasshopper, etc. He talked about the form generation as per the different information fed in the software. He talked about the evolution of Architectural Practice and role of modern machinery and computational power.
