Art Attack: Poster Making Competition

Department of Commerce organized a poster making competition 1st September, 2022.. This event was organized for 1st semester students of commerce department in order to give them an opportunity to showcase their creative skills .Students made posters and used sketches, water colors, color combinations and shading techniques. We conducted the event in offline mode.

“Commerce Fete” organized by the Department of Commerce

The Department of Commerce celebrated Commerce Day by organizing a "Commerce Fete" departmental competition on November 10, 2022. This event was organized for students in order to give them practical exposure. In this event, stalls were given to them to sell their products, crafts, fun games, food items, etc. Every team had to market its unique idea, attract customers for its stall, and generate revenue.

Debate Competition: Vaad Vivad Sanskrit

The Department of Commerce organized an event under the HR club "Vaad Vivad Sanskrit as the medium of modern education". The topic of this debate competition was "Can Sanskrit be the language of the modern education system". This event was a great success, as students came forward and presented their views on this topic.

Debate on Digital Currency Vs Crypto Currency

The objective behind conducting Debate on Digital Currency vs Crypto was to acquaint students with the various aspects of finance. Students participated in the event from all years of Bachelor of Commerce. The students were shortlisted in first round and in the second round there was group competition amongst the two teams for and against the topic. Students were quiet fanatic in the event. They appeared on time and were amazed to find the various areas of finance which they have not explored till yet.

Diya painting competition

The Department of Commerce organized an event on Dias painting on October 6, 2022. This event, "Dias Painting: Fun with Colours and Culture," was organised to teach how to make illustrations using watercolors on Dias, the usage of different sizes of brushes, color combinations, and shading techniques.

Expert Talk on IPR Patents & Design Process

The Department of Commerce organized an expert lecture on "IPR PATENTS & DESIGN PROCESS" on November 24, 2022. The expert of the session was Dr. Nitish Kumar Sharma (Assistant Professor). This expert session was defined as the basic clarity of “What is Intellectual Property?" He discussed different aspects of Intellectual Properties, like what patent rights are, rights awareness, the process of design associated with them, etc. The expert lecture provided valuable awareness on the various aspects of IPR and gave an insight into awareness of rights in IPR and filing procedures. Students were taught how IPR restricts copying others’ ideas and how this will help the development of new ideas for the betterment of societyThey were also given a platform to discuss how small innovations influence societies at large and how they should indulge in innovating and patenting ideas that will be useful for all classes of individuals in society.

An eye-opening seminar on the stock market

The Department of Commerce organized an eye-opening seminar on the stock market on August 31, 2022. The main purpose of this seminar was to educate the students about financial literacy and the stock market. Mr. Akshat Jain, a young entrepreneur and founder of Goyam Investments presided over the session. He has more than four years of experience in the market and has mentored more than 1,000 individuals to work as a full-time trader. He discussed various trading tricks with students and also gave them market literacy to invest in the stock market. In the end, Mr. Akshat concluded the session with a 15-minute meditation session and discussed how it is important to keep the brain calm and active throughout the day.

Flashmob

The event was held on September 2, 2022. It started with the students welcoming the audience. After the welcome, the audience was introduced to the students, and the flashmob started with the dance performances. Students from the management department, including B.Com (H), M.Com and the audience enjoyed the whole performance and choreography.

Pseudo silent seller competition

Marketing club from commerce department on 24 October 2020, organized Pseudo silent seller competition on BB platform. After the brief introduction & acknowledging rules to participants, they presented their material and received valuable advice from panel of judges. Competition ended by announcing the name of winner Ms. Riya from BCom 1E.

Poster Making Competition

In poster making competition, students were asked to prepare a poster on the impact of covid-19 on businesses in very clear manner. After collecting all the posters 3 best posters were selected by the judges from within and outside the department.

Pick Chain Challenge

HR club under B.com department organized event called PICK CHAIN CHALLENGE on Blackboard platform. Event was organized for 3rd and 5th semester students. 70 students participated in this event. This is the series where students have to present their knowledge about the HR field. Event was divided into two rounds. In first round, one picture was displayed in front of students they have to identify related to which HR function this picture is all about and then 1 minute was provided to the students to speak fact fully on that particular picture. In the second round, one situation related to HR functions were there students have to use their skills and tactics to solve that situation and have to provide the use full solution for that.

Business Quiz

A quiz competition is a regular activity of the department. Business quiz is organized for every semester separately. Normally, 6 teams participate in every quiz and results are announced team wise as well as individually. One of the glimpses of the business quiz during pre-covid time in the picture.

USB students of CU lift the Best Overall Trophy

Displaying a scintillating performance, the students from Chandigarh University‘s University School of Business dominated ‘Crusader2016’ — the annual management festival held at CGC Jhanjheri. MBA, BBA and BCom Students participated in 9 events out of which they secured first position in 6 events namely Bizz Quiz, Ad-diction, Management Maestro, Talk Show, Double Trouble and Diagnosis. The CU bagged a rich haul of 35 medals which included 18 gold medals, 16 silvers and a bronze medal. In this festival, more than 350 participants from 11 top management institutes of Punjab and Chandigarh participated in the event.

Our academia interface is strengthened by expert talk from eminent technical experts from various fields. University School of Business (USB) organized an Expert Talk on 'Brand You: Campus to Corporate' for Master of Commerce (M.COM) students. Expert of the session was Mr. Saurabh Agarwal, HR Manager at IDS Infotech Ltd. The expert gave a much needed insight to our students and helped them explore various technical aspects of their field.
