IPsec VPN settings and download for Windows

Connect to CU through VPN Tunnel For Windows Client

  • To Download the VPN Client for Windows Platform, use the respective link: Download And Save the File on your Computer.
  • Before Installing make sure your "system" and "anti-virus" - firewalls are turned off, and it should be turned off while using SSL-VPN to connect CU.
  • Now Double Click the Exe File, Run it, and Install the SSL VPN Client.
  • Go to Start Menu and click on FortiClient SSL VPN. You will get the following screen:
  • In New VPN Connection, select IPSecVPN.
  • In IPSec VPN Enter Connection Name Which you want to be create like Cuipsec.
  • In Remote gateway enter IP address 112.196.7.178
  • Enter CU@12345 in Pre-Shared Key.
  • Then Save the settings.
  • Select connection which you have created.
  • Enter User Name your UID and password which you are using in Campus for Internet. (If you don’t know the password reset from CUIMS.)
  • And click on connect.
  • Now your machine is connected to CU Network and is a part of CU LAN, as if you are physically present in CU. You can access all local resources (telnet, ssh, ftp, browse any local server).

  • To access Library Online Journals, Open your Web Browser (Mozilla Firefox is preferred) and set proxy server as shown below:
  • You can now access Library Online Journals through the browser.
  • Basic Troubleshooting with VPN:
    v Make sure your System and Anti-virus Firewall, both are turned off.
    v For Windows Users - no proxy is set in Windows Internet Explorer.
    v Check PING Status on Command Prompt ( For Windows ) -
    Use Command " ping 112.196.7.178 "

    Output should look like:-
    Reply from 112.196.7.178: bytes=32 time=1ms TTL=255
    Use Command " nslookup gateway.cuchd.in "

    Output should look like:-
