Chandigarh University has made yet another leap forward in higher education.

Unlocking another significant milestone, Chandigarh University has secured the 19th position among India’s Top Universities in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2025, as announced by the Union Ministry of Education (GoI).

This achievement marks the university’s rapid rise among India’s top educational institutions, both private and government.

What are NIRF Rankings?

The NIRF rankings are a critical benchmark for evaluating the quality of higher education institutions (HEIs) in India. They assess institutions based on multiple parameters, including academic performance, research quality, and placement outcomes. Chandigarh University’s impressive ranking is a testament to its high standards in these areas.

Importance of NIRF Rankings

The NIRF rankings are a significant initiative by the Ministry of Education (MoE), Government of India to evaluate and rank higher education institutions in the country. The rankings were introduced to provide a transparent and objective assessment of universities while promoting healthy competition among them. The evaluation is based on various parameters such as:

  • Teaching, Learning & Resources (TLR)
  • Research and Professional Practice (RP)
  • Graduation Outcomes (GO)
  • Outreach and Inclusivity (OI)

NIRF Rankings 2025 for Chandigarh University

Established in 2012, Chandigarh University has quickly emerged as a leading educational institution after making its NIRF debut in 2019. CU’s consistent improvement in national and global rankings highlights a sustained commitment to excellence. With an overall rank #19 among the country’s top universities this year, the university achieved top ranks in various disciplines:

  • #31 in Engineering: Year after year, CU’s Engineering division continues to grow in national and international rankings. Under NIRF Rankings 2025, CU’s Engineering division now ranks #31 among top Engineering Institutions in the country. With an overall score of 60.46, the university stood out inTeaching, Learning & Resources (73.26) and Outreach & Inclusivity (74.33).
  • #32 in Management: Recognized as the region’s top-ranked institute for Management studies, CU’s University School of Business continues to climb the NIRF Rankings and now ranks #32 among the Top Institutes for Management. Apart from the improvement in overall rankings, USB also improved its overall score to 59.40, and categorically, the Management division performed outstandingly well in Teaching, Learning & Resources (73.83); Graduation Outcome (74.27); and Outreach & Inclusivity (78.10).
  • #34 in Research Institutions: Chandigarh University's Research Division makes a powerful debut in the NIRF Rankings 2025, securing the 34th position among the country’s top research institutions. With an overall score of 50.47, CU performed exceptionally in SFC (6817) and Outreach Inclusivity (74.25).
  • #14 in Architecture: North India’s best college for Architecture, Chandigarh University has maintained its place among the country's top 20 Architecture institutions. As per NIRF Rankings 2025, CU’s Architecture Division ranks #19 among the top Architecture institutes in the country. It secured an overall score of 54.49 with significant scores in Teaching, Learning & Resources (71.22); Graduation Outcome (71.05); and Outreach & Inclusivity (76.01).
  • #15 in Pharmacy: Chandigarh University, reaffirming its status as one of the best universities for Pharmacy in India, breaks into Top 20 Pharmacy institutes by NIRF 2025. The Pharmacy division of Chandigarh University now ranks #15 in India with an overall score of 59.70. The division has done remarkably well in Teaching, Learning & Resources (68.30); Graduation Outcome(69.26); and Outreach & Inclusivity (75.76).
