PEOs, POs & PSOs - B.Com.LL.B.

The UILS faculty members have formulated the Programme Educational Objectives (PEOs). The PEOs are broad statements that describe the career and professional accomplishments that the programme is preparing its graduates to achieve in few years subsequent to receiving the degree. The PEOs of Bachelor of Commerce Bachelor of Laws (B.Com.LL.B.) programme are as follows:

PEO-1: CU B.Com.LL.B. graduates will understand the background in fundamental areas of Business/Organisation and its relationship with Law.

PEO-2: CU B.Com.LL.B. graduates will be equipped with the breadth, expertise and a foundation for professional practice.

PEO-3: CU B.Com.LL.B. graduates will gain in-depth knowledge and understanding of: the principles, concepts, values, substantive rules and development of the Indian legal system and core areas of commercial law.

PEO-4: CU B.Com.LL.B. graduates will develop intellectual rigour as well as more general transferable intellectual skills, which are of value in the practice of law and wide range of careers.

PEO-5: CU B.Com.LL.B. graduates will be equipped with self-confidence, knowledge, understanding and skills that will provide added benefit to excel in legal profession and to become a responsible member of the society.

Programme Outcomes (POs) are attributes of the graduates of the programme that are indicative of the graduate’s ability and competence to work as a legal professional upon graduation. Programme Outcomes are statements that describe what students are expected to know or be able to do by the time of graduation. They must relate to knowledge and skills that the students acquire from the programme. The achievement of all outcomes indicates that the student is well prepared to achieve the programme educational objectives down the road. The following 10 POs have been chosen by the UILS of Chandigarh University. The curriculum of B.Com.LL.B. at CU has been designed to fully meet all the 10 Programme Outcomes:

PO-1: Demonstrate the analytical skills and widen the understanding of macro environmental issues by applying the knowledge of macroeconomic policies and their impact on business organisation and strategy. (Analytical Skills)

PO-2: Understand the political, economic, legal, technological, social and international environment with focus on their impact on business. (Significance of Multiple Disciplines in Law)

PO-3: Appreciate the business environment prevailing in India and in the world, and understand its implications on the business. (Business Understanding)

PO-4: Appreciate and evaluate how the law affects and is affected by individuals, organisations, markets, societies and other disciplines. (Inter-disciplinary Understanding)

PO-5: Apply business communication strategies and principles for effective communication in domestic and international business situations. (Communication Skills)

PO-6: Demonstrate the ability to initiate an own start-up and effectively manage their business. (Practical Application)

PO-7: Ability to pursue higher studies in law, commerce, management or any other related field. (Higher Education)

PO-8: Demonstrate the grasp over finer nuances of law, which will ultimately assist in interpreting the rules, regulations, laws and byelaws. (Interpretative Skills)

PO-9: Apply the experiential learning lessons and excel in their chosen area of profession. (Experiential Learning)

PO-10: Demonstrate the soft-skills in becoming industry-ready and thereby, gain decisive edge over their counterparts amidst the cutthroat competition. (Soft-Skills)

The Programme Specific Outcomes (PSOs) are specific statements that describe what graduates are expected to learn, and be able to perform in a specialised area of discipline, upon graduation from a programme. The PSOs of Bachelor of Commerce Bachelor of Laws (B.Com.LL.B.) programme are as follows:

PSO-1: CU B.Com.LL.B. graduates will be prepared to exhibit in depth knowledge of law in a variety of legal & business contexts.

PSO-2: CU B.Com.LL.B. graduates will be able to appreciate the role of law in managerial practice and display their ability to deal with different types of legal issues in a business set-up.
