Department of Physiotherapy involves its students in various interactive sessions, hands-on practices, industrial visits, and other related activities to give them industry familiarity. The department has signed MOUs with number of health institutions in the surrounding regions like Grecian Hospital, Mayo Hospital, Giansagar Hospital, Max Hospital, etc. where the students can go for their trainings and learn how to treat the patients in different hospital settings and departments.

Campus reconnects – Alumni Event

The Department of Physiotherapy at UIAHS recently hosted an Alumni event on February 27th, 2024, featuring an enlightening session led by Dr. Noble Preet(PT), a distinguished Physiotherapist currently serving at MAX Hospital, Mohali. Dr. Preet shared invaluable insights gleaned from her journey in the hospital setting, focusing on the principles of holistic rehabilitation. This approach underscores the importance of addressing not only the physical aspects but also the emotional, social, and environmental factors that impact recovery.

A remarkable day at the Alumni event organized by the Department of Physiotherapy!

Guiding the budding professionals with industry insights, the Department of Physiotherapy hosted an inspiring Alumni event with Dr Karan Singh, CU Alumnus and a dynamic Physiotherapist from Saraswati College of Physiotherapy. Dr. Singh illuminated the crucial connection between basic and advanced subjects, emphasizing their significance. Dr. Singh also addressed the vital topic of stress management during exams, providing invaluable advice. Students gained insights into career paths, international opportunities in physiotherapy, and the powerful role of yoga.

Paraplegia Rehabilitation Center Visit

Department of Physiotherapy, Chandigarh University students recently visited the Paraplegia Rehabilitation Centre, Mohali to gain insight into specialized treatments and facilities for patients with spinal cord injuries. The visit included a comprehensive tour of our state-of-the-art facilities, where the students observed firsthand the advanced equipment and techniques used in the rehabilitation of paraplegic patients. They had the opportunity to interact with our experienced physiotherapists, learning about tailored exercise routines, assistive devices, and innovative therapies designed to enhance mobility and improve the overall quality of life for individuals with paraplegia. The visit proved to be an enriching educational experience, fostering a deeper understanding of the challenges faced by these patients and the crucial role of physiotherapy in their recovery journey.

Workshop - Canadian Massage Therapy

Department of Physiotherapy organised a workshop on Canadian Massage Therapy on 20th September, 2023. This session was taken by Capt. Harveer Singh sir who is currently a certified massage therapist who has done a 3 year massage therapy course from Canada. He provided valuable insight on the working as a good physiotherapist later on followed by the correct procedure of massage therapy. He provided a depth knowledge on the concepts regarding the techniques which should be implemented during the time of treating patients. He demonstrated the correct methods which should be implemented providing massage therapy to the patients. Also latest trends in Massage therapeutic techniques was demonstrated to the students. The session was very interactive and provided students with valuable insights on the massage therapy techniques with its latest trends in physiotherapeutic field.

World Physiotherapy Day 2023

Department of Physiotherapy, University Institute of Allied Health Sciences' orchestrated a remarkable celebration for World Physiotherapy Day. The event featured diverse cultural performances, interactive games, and touching patient success stories that inspired hope. Information about physiotherapy was disseminated through presentations and demonstrations, fostering active learning and discussion. This celebration showcased the talents and dedication of physiotherapy students and emphasized the profound impact of physiotherapy on healthcare. It was a perfect blend of entertainment and education, leaving a lasting impression on all attendees.

General Health assessment

On September 12, 2023, the Department of Physiotherapy at the University Institute Of Allied Health Sciences hosted a General Health Assessment event to mark World Physiotherapy Day. With the participation of 29 student teams, supported by master's students, this event offered comprehensive health assessments to faculty members and academic dignitaries, including Prof (Dr.) RS Bawa and S. Satnam Singh Sandhu. Assessments encompassed critical health metrics like blood pressure, height, weight, hip-waist ratios, and BMI, accompanied by tailored physiotherapy guidance. A total of 402 assessments were conducted, and the event doubled as an educational platform, enlightening attendees about the pivotal role of physiotherapy in holistic health. In summary, the occasion showcased proactive health awareness and knowledge dissemination within Chandigarh University, all in honor of World Physiotherapy Day.

Expert Talk on Hospital Administration and Management

The Department of Physiotherapy organized an Expert Talk on the topic of Hospital Administration and Management. The Expert Talk was conducted by Joydeep DasGupta, who has extensive experience in the field of hospital administration and management. Mr. DasGupta started his lecture by providing an overview of the healthcare industry and the importance of effective hospital administration and management. During the lecture, Mr. DasGupta shared his experiences and provided insights on how to improve hospital administration and management, ensuring optimal patient care and staff satisfaction. He also highlighted the challenges faced by hospitals and how to overcome them. The lecture was informative and thought-provoking, providing attendees with practical knowledge and insights.

Physio HARCON 2022

4th International Conference of Physiotherapy “Physio HARCON 2022” was organized by Haryana Chartered association of physiotherapy and Delhi Pharmaceutical and Sciences and Research University on 18th December 2022.
Master of Physiotherapy (MPT) students from Chandigarh University had participated in conference.
MPT students had participated in Platform presentation for Post Graduate category. Students participated in Poster presentation at the conference.
