The resource person for the seminar was Dr. Parikshit Bansal, Professor & IPR Expert, NIPER, Mohali. Dr. Bansal is a Patent attorney and an IPR Expert. His lecture was attended by students of B.Sc 2nd year and M.sc 1st year. He discussed various parameters that are considered before accepting the patent application. He also introduced students with patentable and non patentable biotechnology based products. At the end the expert enlightened students for bringing innovative products and processes that can be patented.

The students and faculty of Department of Biotechnology, CU, visited the nearby village farmers of Sahouran Village, for spreading the awareness on Mushroom cultivation and use of biofertilizers. Our team obsereved that villagers had a good knowledge over organic farming but were not willing to use it, because of easily available and cheap chemical fertilizers. Students encouraged them for using the bio fertilizers in place of conventional chemical fertilizers by promoting this technology with advanced knowledge. There was active participation of the people and students, and gram panchayat appreciated our efforts
