Environmental Biotechnology Lab

This lab is fully equipped with state of the art facilities required to carry out research and hands-on experience in environmental microbiology and biotechnology. This lab facilitates the isolation & characterization of bacteria from various contaminated soils, development of small scale vermicomposting systems, construction of small scale microbial fuel cell, biodegradation study of toxic environmental pollutant, development of small scale Biogas Plant and development of cheaper and effective waste water treatment methods.

Genetic Engineering Lab

This lab is fully equipped with state of the art facilities required to carry out research and hands-on experience in recombinant DNA techniques. This lab has been designed to facilitate cloning and expression of gene of interest in wide range of bacterial hosts, restriction digestion analysis of various DNA samples with suitable restriction endonucleases, to perform Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) of gene of interest by gene specific primers using Thermo-Cycler/PCR Machine, isolation and qualitative & quantitative analysis of DNA from various biological samples, ligation of digested DNA Sample & qualitative analysis of the ligated product and cDNA synthesis of mRNA by reverse transcriptase PCR.

Microbiology Lab

This lab is fully equipped with state of the art facilities required to carry out research and hands-on experience in all kinds of microbial isolation and microbial testing etc. The main purpose of this lab is to facilitate the undergraduate & postgraduate biotechnology students to learn various plating & staining techniques in microbiology, to perform different antibiotic sensitivity assays, isolation & screening of several industrially important microbes, biochemical tests for identification of microbes and microbial analysis of various food products.

Genomics and Proteomics Lab

This lab is fully equipped with state of the art facilities required to carry out research and hands-on experience in Genomics & Proteomics Tools and Techniques. The main purpose of this lab is to perform various blotting techniques like Southern & Western Blotting, restriction mapping, protein separation by Sodium Dodecyl Sulfate-Polyacrylamide Gel Electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE), protein secondary structure prediction using Chou-Fasman Algorithm & SOPMA and Protein 3D Structure Prediction Using PyMol, RasMol.

Bioprocess Technology Lab

This lab is fully equipped with state of the art facilities required to carry out research and hands-on experience in all kinds of microbial fermentation and biotransformation studies. This lab has been designed to familiarize students with the operation & calibration of lab scale fermenter, isolation & screening of industrially important microorganisms, study of microbial growth kinetics at shake flask level, wine production using different fruits, beer production, bioethanol production from lignocellulosic waste biomass, biodiesel production from waste cooking oil and separation & purification of various biomolecules using different chromatographic techniques like gel filtration & ion exchange chromatography.

Immunology Lab

This lab is fully equipped with state of the art facilities required to carry out research and hands-on experience in all kinds of immunological and immunochemical studies. This lab facilitates blood group testing, knowing the haemoglobin count, Total Leukocyte Count & Differential Leukocyte Count, performing various immunoassays such as Radial Immunodiffusion Assay, Ouchterlony Double Diffusion, Rocket-Immunoelectrophoresis for quantifying the concentration of unknown antigens & to find out the specificity of antibody against antigens. This lab also facilitates diagnosis of Hepatitis C, HIV using Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA).

Pilot Scale Fermentation Lab

This lab is fully equipped with state of the art facilities required to carry out pilot scale production of industrially important enzymes, bio-fertilizers, biofuels etc.This lab has been designed for developing low cost strategies for Lab Scale Biofertilizer Production & Bioethanol Production from Lignocellulosic Waste Biomass and Cell Biomass Production & Separation.

Computational Biology Lab

This lab is fully equipped with state of the art facilities required to carry out research and hands-on experience on all kinds of major Biological Databases such as NCBI, Protein Data Bank (PDB), BLAST: BLASTn, BLASTpetc.The main purpose of this lab is to facilitate students about Multiple Sequence Alignment of Given Sequences, Phylogenetic Tree Construction, Designing PCR Primers Using Primer 3 and Evaluation of Primer Statistics through In-Silico Tools, Identification of Potential Protein Coding Regions in a Given Sequence by Identifying Open Reading Frames – Using ORF Finder, Protein Secondary Structure Prediction Using SOPMA, Homology Modelling for Protein Sequence to Structure Prediction Using I-TASSER, Prediction of Protein Structure by Using Swiss Model & PyMol.

Biochemistry Lab

This lab is fully equipped with state of the art facilities required to carry out research and hands-on experience in all kinds of biochemical testing and biochemical analysis of a wide range of samples. This lab has been designed to facilitate qualitative and quantitative analysis of different biomolecules through various biochemical methods, Quantitative Estimation of Blood Sugar and qualitative analysis of various biomolecules using different chromatographic techniques like paper chromatography, Thin Layer Chromatography etc.

Research Lab (I)

This research lab is fully equipped with state of the art facilities required to carry out research and hands-on experience in the diverse areas of biotechnology. The prime focus of this lab is to facilitate plant tissue culture of various ornamental crops, almond, Kiwi etc. This lab is also equipped with CO2incubator for doing animal cell culture (monolayer and suspension culture) and inverted microscope for studying the morphological features of various animal cell lines.

Research Lab (II)

This lab is dedicated to Isolate, Screen & Characterize (Microbiological & Biochemical Characterization) industrially important microorganisms. This lab also facilitates extraction of valuable phytochemicals from wide range of medicinally important plants and freeze drying of various valuable broth cultures. The main purpose of this lab is to handle external funded projects.
