Program Outcome

  • PO1 Disciplinary/ Interdisciplinary areas of learning: Students will be able to enhance comprehensive knowledge and coherent understanding through application of Practical, professional and procedural knowledge to get ready for entrepreneurship involving enterprise creation, improved product development and skills in specialized areas (including wide-ranging practical skills, involving variable routine and non-routine contexts) for creative and real-life situations with competencies in new/unfamiliar contexts also in the chosen disciplinary/interdisciplinary areas of study.
  • PO2 Complex problem-solving: The student will be able to handle different kinds of problems in familiar and unfamiliar contexts ranging from small to large scale diverse projects to meet the specified perspectives while applying the learning to real-life situations.
  • PO3 Critical thinking: The student will be able to critically analyze evidence, arguments, claims, beliefs, reliability and relevance of the evidence to identify relevant assumptions or implications; and also to formulate coherent arguments and logical flaws in the arguments of others concerning to conclude complex problems based on different parameters.
  • PO 4 Creativity: Students will be able to look at multiple perspectives for ‘out of the box’ thinking, creative skills and imagination for complex problems in unfamiliar contexts by adopting interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence along with innovative methods and new techniques.
  • PO 5 Communication Skills: The student will be able to confidently share thoughts and ideas effectively in writing and orally using correct technical language related to a field of learning, work/vocation, or an area of professional practice while communicating and using a language that is respectful and sensitive to gender and other minority groups.
  • PO 6 Analytical reasoning/thinking: Students will be able to evaluate the reliability and relevance of evidence for analysing and synthesizing data from a variety of sources in addressing different viewpoints.
  • PO 7 Research-related skills: The student will have research aptitude with a keen sense of observation, inquiry, capability for asking relevant/ appropriate questions, establish hypotheses, make inferences based on the analysis and interpretation of data to develop appropriate methodology, statistical and other analytical tools for research in the field/ in personal research work following research ethics and skills in practicing/doing ethics in the field/in personal research work.
  • PO 8 Coordinating/collaborating with others: The student will be able to work effectively and respectfully as a member of a team coordinating with diverse teams. Skilled knowledge will support preparing technical drawings in allied fields like Construction incorporating bye laws/ Codes, ordinances, environmental regulation etc. facilitating cooperative or coordinated effort.
  • PO 9 Leadership readiness/qualities: To enable students with skills of mapping out the tasks of a team or an organization and setting direction by formulating an inspiring vision and management skills to guide people to the right destination.
  • PO 10 Learning how to learn skills: The student will be able to recognize the need to acquire new knowledge and skills through self-paced and self-directed learning meeting all socio-cultural-economic parameters along with organizational skills and time management through knowledge/ skill development/ reskilling in the context of the fourth industrial revolution to engage in, independent and life-long learning.
  • PO 11 Digital and technological skills: The student will be able to demonstrate the capability to use software, techniques, resources and tools for the projects in designing, planning and visualization, and use appropriate software for analysis of data.
  • PO 12 Multicultural competence and inclusive spirit: The student will be able to enhance capability to effectively engage and interact respectfully in multicultural groups, inculcate gender sensitivity, empathy for the less advantaged and the differently-able, lead a diverse team to accomplish common group tasks and goals.
  • PO 13 Value inculcation: The students will be able to identify ethical issues related to work, and follow ethical practices, including avoiding unethical behavior such as fabrication, falsification or misrepresentation of data, or committing plagiarism, and adhering to intellectual property rights, recognize environmental and sustainability issues, and participate in actions to promote sustainable development.
  • PO 14 Autonomy, responsibility, and accountability: The students will be able apply knowledge, understanding, and skills to work independently. Identification of appropriate resources required for a project, and manage a project through to completion. The students will be able to exercise responsibility and demonstrate accountability in applying knowledge & skills including ensuring safety & security at workplaces
  • PO 15 Environmental awareness and action: The students will be able to mitigate the effects of environmental degradation, climate change, pollution, effective waste management, conservation of biological diversity, management of biological resources & biodiversity, forest & wildlife conservation, sustainable development and living.
  • PO 16 Community engagement and service: The students will be able to demonstrate the capability to participate in the community-engaged services/ activities for promoting the wellbeing of society
  • PO 17 Empathy: The students will be able to demonstrate the ability to identify and understand the perspective, experiences, points of view and emotions of another individual or group.

Professional Training

As interns in architectural firms, students have the opportunity to work on various aspects of a project, including designing a specific part, preparing architectural documents and drawings, constructing models, and creating construction drawings. They also conduct research on building codes and materials, and write specifications for building materials, installation criteria, quality of finishes, and other related details.

To provide its students with valuable professional training, the CU Academic Internship Program places B.Arch students into some of the most prestigious architectural practices. The program ensures that UIA students are exposed to the latest trends and innovations in the international practice of architecture.
