At Chandigarh University, the B.Sc. (Hons./Hons. with Research) Biotechnology program is structured to give students a broad and balanced grounding in the sciences, training them for successful careers in Biotechnology and the broader life sciences industries. Instead of concentrating only on one particular field of study, the program focuses on the importance of areas such as molecular biology, biochemistry, genetics, microbiology, and bioinformatics so that the students understand how the various biological processes connect and interact. By looking at biotechnology from several angles, students learn how these subjects contribute to global issues like human and animal health, sustainable farming, drug discovery and development, and environmental conservation.
Learning is applied through laboratory classes, practical learning exercises, projects, and even industrial attachments. Focus areas such as industrial biotechnology, genetic engineering, and bioinformatics ensure that the curriculum remains relevant and up-to-date. Students thus develop problem-solving and analytical skills. By the time students graduate from this program, they will have been exposed to enough theoretical and practical experiences to allow them to secure jobs in various biotechnological organisations or pursue higher learning in institutions both within and outside India.

Stay Fearless And Get Ready To Conquer Your Coursework. According to the U.S Bureau of Labor Statistics, the total employment is projected to grow by 165.4 million over the 2020–30 decade, which means an increase of 11.9 million jobs.
Chandigarh University provides Biotechnology students exposure to advanced laboratories such as Animal Tissue Culture, Plant Tissue Culture, Fermentation, and Cordyceps research labs. Students engage in government-funded projects, experimental research in molecular biology, genetics, microbiology, AI-integrated biological sciences, and are encouraged to publish research papers and file patents under structured faculty mentorship.
The Biotechnology curriculum integrates plant, animal, and microbial sciences with biochemistry, genetics, physiology, bioinformatics, and computational biology. It also incorporates Artificial Intelligence applications, specialization verticals, project-based learning, and research-oriented training to ensure interdisciplinary and application-focused understanding.
The program prepares students for careers in pharmaceuticals, vaccine development, healthcare, agriculture, food and fermentation industries, environmental biotechnology, diagnostics, bioinformatics, nutraceuticals, industrial research, and academia. Strong industry collaborations and internships enhance real-world readiness and employability.
Yes, students gain global exposure through international internships, semester-abroad programs, Erasmus-linked research opportunities, and collaborations with international universities in countries such as the USA, UK, Australia, Spain, and France.
CUCET is not compulsory for admission. However, students can take the test to get up to 100% scholarship.
