B.Sc. Physics (PEOs, POs, PSOs)

The PEOs are broad statements that describe the career and professional accomplishments that the program is preparing its graduates to achieve in a few years after receiving the degree. The PEOs of B.Sc. (Hons.) Physics are as follows:

PEO-1: To prepare science graduates to exhibit quality of excellence, critical thinking, creativity, inventiveness, and self-motivation for life-long learning to handle all kind of diverse situations in interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary environment.

PEO-2: To produce graduates who are globally acceptable professionals for government, corporate and research organizations along with skills for entrepreneurial pursuits in multidisciplinary areas.

PEO-3: To groom graduates who can demonstrate technical competence in the field of Physics and develop solutions to the complex problems.

PEO-4: To produce graduates who can ethically lead and work as a part of team towards the fulfillment of both individual and organizational goals.

PEO-5: To engage graduates in professional pursuits to enhance their own achievements along with serving the society at large.

PEO-5: To enable the graduates to pursue higher education in physics and allied domains.

Program Outcomes (POs) are attributes of the graduates of the program that are indicative of the graduates’ ability and competence to work as science professional upon graduation. Program Outcomes are statements that describe what students are expected to know or be able to do by the time of graduation. They must relate to knowledge and skills that the students acquire from the program. The achievement of all outcomes indicates that the student is well prepared to achieve the program educational objectives down the road.

Science Graduates will be able to:

PO-1: Knowledge and Understanding: Comprehensive knowledge and coherent understanding of the Physics, its linkages with related fields of study, and current and emerging developments in a broad multidisciplinary context.

PO-2: Complex Problem Solving: Capacity to extrapolate the acquired knowledge and skills to new/ unfamiliar real life situations.

PO-3: Analytical Thinking : identify, formulate and apply knowledge and skills of chemistry and related fields to analyze, evaluate and create solutions of problems/situations in different and diverse ways.

PO-4: Creativity: Ability to identify and understand any critical problem from different windows and able to find out best solution out of the box.

PO-5: Communication Skills: Demonstrate the skills that enable them to listen, write, express and argue in clear and concise way using correct technical language in respectful and sensitive manner.

PO-6: Analytical Reasoning and Thinking: Ability to analyze any data in a reliable and scientific way with valid evidences and examples

PO-7: Research – related Skills: Demonstrate the ability to acquire the understanding and skills of basic research and its components, practicing ethics in the field of research work.

PO-8: Coordinating/collaborating with others: Ability to work effectively in any team to achieve required goal.

PO-9: Leadership readiness/qualities: Ability to develop the quality of leadership which will help them to be a part of any organization as well as create a positive energy in their work field to achieve any assigned target.

PO-10: Learning how to learn skills: Demonstrate the ability to acquire new knowledge and skills including ‘learning how to learn skills/ Reskills adapting to changes in work processes, organizational skills and time management in the context of fourth industrial revolution with lifelong learning attitude.

PO-11: Digital and Technological Skills: Demonstrate the capability to use ICT and appropriate software for accessing and evaluating the relevant information sources in learning and work situations.

PO-12: Multicultural competence and inclusive spirit: Ability to develop multicultural spirit to interact with diverse cultural groups and participate in any common goal assigned by any agencies.

PO-13: Value Inculcation: demonstrate the acquisition of knowledge and practice constitutional, humanistic, ethical and moral values to be a responsible global citizen for the promotion of sustainable development.

PSO-1: have fundamental knowledge about various experimental techniques in the field of material science and material characteristics with simulations to attain systematic understanding of core concepts.

PSO-2: have fundamental knowledge in the field of nuclear and particle physics particularly in nuclear detectors, accelerator and radiation physics together with computational domain for their applications to design and execute experiments in various advanced equipment

PSO-3: have fundamental knowledge in the field of electronics particularly in Embedded systems, microcontrollers, communication systems and Digital signal processing as well as with computational physics together with their applications in interdisciplinary areas of science.

PO-5: Modern tool usage: Create, select, and apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern scientific and IT tools including prediction and modeling to complex scientific activities with an understanding of limitations.

PSO-2: have fundamental and advanced level knowledge in field of electronics particularly optical fiber communication, nanoelectronics, VLSI design, optoelectronics, control systems, microprocessor and microcontrollers together with their applications in interdisciplinary areas of science utilizing computational techniques.

PSO-3: have fundamental and advanced level knowledge in field of material science particularly thin film physics, laser and photonics, physics of nanomaterials, Fundamentals of micro and nanofabrication together with their applications in materials processing utilizing computational techniques for advanced applications.
