Verka Milk Plant, Mohali

The Department of Mechanical Engineering, Chandigarh University, organised an industrial visit to the Verka Milk Plant at Mohali for the students of 6th semester. The milk plant visit was a great learning experience for the students, as it gave them valuable knowledge and required exposure to the practical aspects of the industry. From the collection of milk from local dairies and vendors to pasteurisation and further packaging of milk, students observed the entire process keenly at Verka Milk Plant. It motivated them to be associated with the industry upon completion of their engineering degree.

Maruti Suzuki

A total of 43 students from the Department of Mechanical Engineering got the opportunity to visit the biggest automobile manufacturing company in India, Maruti Suzuki. The students visited the Gurugram based plant where a complete knowledge of the manufacturing of cars, from the production of chassis to the final testing of the cars, was shown to them. It was one of the most valuable learning experiences for the students of Mechanical Engineering which gave them great exposure about automation in the manufacturing of cars.

Mahindra & Mahindra

Mahindra & Mahindra is a leading international automotive manufacturing brand, and a batch of 60 privileged students from Mechanical Engineering at Chandigarh University got the opportunity to visit its Mohali based unit. The students gained valuable knowledge about the manufacturing of Swaraj tractors of various capacities used for agriculture and the transportation of heavy materials. It was a valuable industry exposure and learning experience for students that will be remembered and retained for a long time in their careers.

A batch of 50 students from the Department of Mechanical Engineering of Chandigarh University visited Emmbros Autocomp Limited at Baddi, Himachal Pradesh, where the students gained valuable insights on the manufacturing of automotive parts such as axles for renowned construction equipment manufacturing brands like Caterpillar Inc. and JCB. The visit was a great learning experience for the students aspiring to build their career in mechanical engineering.

The expert lecture was focused on Supply Chain Management, Material Management and development in it. Mr. Sharma discussed about the advantages and evolution of Supply Chain Management in the industry. He also shared about the upcoming developments in this field and its impact on the global industry. Besides Supply Chain, he also discussed about material management and various developments in this field. The main aim of the session was to enhance the knowledge of students and faculty in this field of Industry, and give an exposure to various Industrial applications.

Department of Mechanical Engineering organized an expert session by Mr. Jaspal Singh, DGM Welding Works, Hendrickson India on the topic, “Future Smart/Digital Core Manufacturing and Big Data Impact for Mechanical Engineers to get Welded to AI, Machine Learning”. The session was enthralling and enlightening for the students. Mr. Jaspal discussed in detail about the integration of BIGDATA, AI in core mechanical fields like automobiles, aviation, manufacturing, robotics etc. He also envisaged the future and involvement of all technologies like BIG DATA and AI in the new technologies. Various other misconceptions of students like the use of IT in core mechanical were also resolved very impeccably by the speaker.

International Go Kart Design Challenge 2019

A team of 14 students from, Mechanical Engineering Department bagged 2nd prize in Go Kart Design Challenge India held at International Buddh Circuit, Noida. More than 60 teams from different universities participated in the event. The event had various rounds including Technical Inspection, Break Test, Endurance Test etc. Within the framework of the university challenge India, young talents have had the chance to demonstrate their expertise in the field of engineering

Human Powered Vehicle Competition, ASME

Chandigarh University is now HPVC India 2016 Champions !! Team Fateh (nikhil (captain), Nishant kapoor, Nikhilpreet singh Narinder sandhu, Nitin Singh, Aseem Gupta, Bittu yadav, harsimran and Akshay soni) from Chandigarh University has created history by winning overall 1st Position in HPVC (Human Powered Vehicle Challenge) India 2016 (organized by ASME) at VIT University, Vellore, Tamil Nadu. CU’s team Fateh has showed good potential throughout the tournament.

To keep students abreast with the latest technologies being used in industries, Chandigarh University organized a visit to Mahindra & Mahindra Plant. The students were introduced to various operations involved in the manufacturing of tractors like Machining Shop, Light Machine Shop, Heavy Machine Shop, Paint Shop, Assembly Shop, etc.

Hindustan Unilever Ltd.

A batch of 55 students visited Hindustan Unilever Ltd. to get hands-on with the processes carried out in different areas of the company like sanitizing, mixing, steaming (cooking), pasteurizing, filling, crowning, capping, labeling, packaging etc. The processes being carried out were explained by the Honorable Operation Incharge himself. In addition to this, students had an interaction with the workers to find out more about the various production processes, methods of water treatment and testing of the final product.

Central Scientific Instruments Organization (CSIO)

A batch of 52 students visited CSIO to get familiar with emerging technologies. They were enlightened about micro electro mechanical systems and sensors, optics and opto electronics, strategic and defense, geo scientific instrumentation, bio molecular electronics and nanotechnology lab etc. Along with floor shop experience, they had an expert lecture by Mr. Neeraj (Junior Scientist) regarding sensors used in various industries.
